  • Fantastic

Great show. Just finished listen to the Platonic series. Lantern Jack nails both the original intent of the author and its impact on philosophy, without getting into the “deconstructionism” you’d encounter in a University. His guest lecturers made Plato assessable to me in certain ways that I haven’t experienced. And it’s all for free. A glimmer of hope in this dark world. Thanks!

  • At last! The whole of Plato’s Republic!

I’ve been listening to this excellent podcast for several years as Lantern Jack and his distinguished guests did deep dives into Plato’s great masterpiece, waiting for them to get to the final book and the so-called Myth of Er. At last they’ve done it in their superb birds-eye-view of the entire Republic. Hopefully they will go even deeper in a future episode and talk about Plato’s depiction of the afterlife as a place of reward, punishment and reincarnation…

  • If this were a book, I could not put it down

A wonderful mix of history and philosophy! Dr Jack and his guests are knowledgeable and yet manage to get even the difficult philosophical concepts across to a novice like me. And the passion they obviously have for their subject will draw you right in
