  • Not what it used to be

For as much as I couldn’t stand the far right slop published in its magazine, I enjoyed Coffee House Shots for its fairly balanced analysis on the political issue of the day. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill since Fraser Nelson, James Forsyth and Katy Balls left. It seems a strategic decision has been made to cover the same right wing culture war slop as the magazine to cater to their core audience of Telegraph readers. Good luck to them, but I don’t care for the ramblings of that fatty ... more

  • It’s lost something

Coffee House Shots used to be the right-leaning podcast you could rely on for level-headed, grown-up analysis of Westminster. Since the change of ownership, that tone has vanished. The departure of Katy Balls and Fraser Nelson has taken the balance and scepticism with them.

One of the show’s real strengths used to be its ability to attract listeners who weren’t on the right at all but valued sharp reasoning and thoughtful argument. Even if you disagreed politically, you could appreciate the cla... more

  • Great Insights

Enjoyed listening to these easily digestible pods for years which continue to give an intimate insight into the workings of the Westminster Village. Tom Shipman has been a brilliant choice as a recent addition and Michael Simmons’s data driven analysis creates real context to economic and political policies.

  • Miles and OBR

Well that interview certainly illustrates why the OBR and the budget is such a mess. Constant equivocating in spite of the host’s gallant attempts to get specifics. Also if he’s going to quote Shakespeare then get it right or read some: “swings and arrows…”?!
