Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Considering Art Podcast – Paul Huxley RA, abstract artist
Q: How would you go about starting off a work?
I have a little notebook where I use a pen to develop ideas and create a stack of drawings until I arrive at something I'm looking for.
Considering Art Podcast – Paul Huxley RA, abstract artist
Q: What were people like Mark Rothko, Lee Krasner like as people?
They were each very different from one another. They benefited from being put under a label of being a school or movement, but also didn't like being labeled.
Considering Art Podcast – Paul Huxley RA, abstract artist
Q: When did you first get into abstract art, Paul?
Even as a fairly young student, I had a taste for modernism, but I didn't quite have the intellectual grasp of what modernism was about.
Considering Art Podcast – Sophie Duez, surrealist portrait artist
Q: How has that affected your art?
I always wondered why it was I was drawn to such close detail. And then I realized that when I was working close up, actually the double vision sort of went away, and it improved.
Considering Art Podcast – Sophie Duez, surrealist portrait artist
Q: Did you get bullied a bit?
Yeah, I was bullied, especially when I was younger, but I think that kind of made me into the person I am. I wouldn't change it now.
