  • Cold riding comment

I live way up north and I do three day eventing … I went to a HT a few years back in October… it was so cold They actually had to break the ice at the water jump and it was 30° and snowing, and we still went out! Crazy ! Luckily, I ride outside all the time because I do not have an indoor so my horse is used to it!

Riding with Independent Aids Q&A
Q: How do I stay steady with my hands when she's all over the place with her head?
Stay soft in your shoulder and be flexible in your arms so that the contact weight remains the same when the horse's head moves.
Riding with Independent Aids Q&A
Q: How do I get my horse to go more forward in the walk without constantly bumping her with little kicks?
Make the walk adjustable; you need to send it on and bring it back, it's not just about sending.
Riding with Independent Aids Q&A
Q: When you're doing circles and you use your inside leg to make the bend, do you keep it on for the entire circle?
No, your legs have to supple like your hands have to; if your horse falls too much in, they run into your inside leg.
Rider Straightness & Symmetry Q&A
Q: Any tips on the leg length issue?
Check with a physical therapist to determine if there is an actual difference in leg lengths and focus on addressing muscle tightness or weaknesses.
Rider Straightness & Symmetry Q&A
Q: Why is straightness different the farther up the level you go?
Straightness is different because of the criteria and connections needed at higher levels, requiring more suppleness and bend.
