  • A message for Melissa Davey

Hi Melissa, I’m half-way through listening to the podcast on the ‘Lifesaving Covid Treatments…’ and you really know your stuff. Well researched and very informative - well done. One thing I think you need to be conscious of, though, is your very significant tendency to finish sentences about three octaves higher than when you start them. This does detract from your communication. Please have a listen to this and I’m sure you’ll pick it up. I used to tell my students that the PRESENTATION of comm... more

  • Pod is great, but…

I could not listen to the Phoebe Saintilan-Stocks episode, as her voice has the most severe, exaggerated examples of vocal fry I have personally experienced. (That is the low, croaky part of the vocal range at the end of every sentence that puts the listener into a fingernail down blackboard sensation. Not occasionally in Phoebe’s case, it was every sentence she uttered. ) The content was so interesting I will probably go buy her book but perhaps producers of this pod could keep their ears train... more

  • Unbalanced opinions

I listen to the Guardian regularly but consistently disappointed in the reporting as it never balances the left and right adequately. We dont expect 50/50 reporting but a more balanced factual approach to content. Its disappointing because it has the potential but to be a really good provider

  • Can’t live without the Guardian

Lenore Taylor is quite the compulsive interrupter. Let a person finish a thought Lenore. Your thoughts are no more important than those of your colleagues. Get some manners. And humility.

'No playbook for this': the eSafety commissioner on her world-first social media ban
Q: What is driving you in this fight as we enter this age of where some social media platforms are being banned in Australia for under-16s?
I think I raised concerns about the approach very early. I know you know my water safety analogy well, that we have to teach kids to swim, and we've been providing digital literacy and more recently, algorithmic literacy programs to schools, through schools and doing youth-based research.
Larissa Waters on how the environment deal was done
Q: What do you want to achieve next with regard to housing?
I am determined to ease the housing crisis by removing tax perks that lock people out of home ownership.
Larissa Waters on how the environment deal was done
Q: Was passing the new environmental laws a legacy-defining moment for you?
Yes, achieving improvements in environment laws is a significant milestone, though there's still work to be done.
Larissa Waters on how the environment deal was done
Q: What has surprised you about taking on this role?
The unexpected nature of the leadership change and the grief over losing previous leaders was challenging.
Ashes Weekly: will Australia strike again in Brisbane?
Q: Geoff, Mark Wood ruled out the second test. How big a blow is that for England?
It's peculiar and may be precautionary, but it raises questions about his fitness for upcoming matches.
