  • Get rid of Tony Barrie

The full story is great and I love the idea back to back Barrie’s but it does not work because Tony Barrie is dreadful. Today he went on a rant about Victoria- not a considered discussion just nasty rant. As a Victorian I find this childish behaviour frustrating enough to make me give up on what could be a good podcast, surely there is a right leaning commentator who is better than this. Stupid name too

  • Anika Wells and travel entitlements.

    Excellent interview and analysis with

Reged Ahmad and Political editor Tom McIlroy.

Reviews of politicians travel spending should be reviewed annually for both Liberal and Labor. As parents in the workforce we choose our careers and if it includes long hours and time away from the family, it is a personal choice after all and most of us have to foot the bill.

  • A message for Melissa Davey

Hi Melissa, I’m half-way through listening to the podcast on the ‘Lifesaving Covid Treatments…’ and you really know your stuff. Well researched and very informative - well done. One thing I think you need to be conscious of, though, is your very significant tendency to finish sentences about three octaves higher than when you start them. This does detract from your communication. Please have a listen to this and I’m sure you’ll pick it up. I used to tell my students that the PRESENTATION of comm... more

  • Pod is great, but…

I could not listen to the Phoebe Saintilan-Stocks episode, as her voice has the most severe, exaggerated examples of vocal fry I have personally experienced. (That is the low, croaky part of the vocal range at the end of every sentence that puts the listener into a fingernail down blackboard sensation. Not occasionally in Phoebe’s case, it was every sentence she uttered. ) The content was so interesting I will probably go buy her book but perhaps producers of this pod could keep their ears train... more

Q: What would you have liked to see instead of these laws?
Laws that don't encroach upon or expand executive power, allowing judiciary oversight and community involvement in the decision-making process.
A civil liberties expert on what Labor’s hate speech laws get so wrong
Q: Do you believe these laws will effectively target hate speech?
No, they do not effectively address the issues surrounding hate speech or anti-Semitism.
A civil liberties expert on what Labor’s hate speech laws get so wrong
Q: What do you think of the government's justification for these new hate speech laws?
The laws are vague and broad, risking undermining procedural fairness and community dialogue.
Is Trump waging a war on his own people?
Q: What do you think about the response from the Democrats? Do you think it's been strong or are they a bit missing in action?
Somehow they always manage to be missing in action, but they were public in their statements denouncing this and using strong language.
Is Trump waging a war on his own people?
Q: Is this a turning point? Is the killing of Pretti, has it crossed a line and become a watershed moment from America?
It's fascinating that we have spent a decade decrying technology and social media for polarizing society, and yet here the mobile phone actually was the saviour.
