  • Rough Listening

Interesting content but the podcasters just don’t seem to mesh well. Their lack of chemistry is a real drag on the show. Chris dominates the discussion with theory and Rob doesn’t get much opportunity to talk about practical programming.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

012 Periodization
Q: How are you incorporating motor unit improvement development into your programs if you're not doing this phase potentiation idea?
Rob shares that he uses speed work or brief isometric exercises in warmups to maintain motor unit recruitment improvements without the need for strict phase potentiation.
012 Periodization
Q: How are you writing programs at the moment that allow you to improve speed and power and strength within a single training week?
Rob Mauceri explains that he focuses on minimal volumes of high-quality exercises, believing that even just a couple of high-velocity reps or heavy strength training sets can drive adaptations effectively, especially when training two to three times a week.
009 Sprinting
Q: What are you currently programming for strength training with athletes who sprint?
Rob describes focusing on exercises for hip extension, knee balance, and fast ankle actions to improve overall speed.
