Join Veronica for a chat about deconstructing in December with all the complicated feelings that Advent and Christmas bring when you've been deconstructing.
Here's some links to resources on the holiday season. While these articles are all targeted... more
Today we unpack compulsory heterosexuality (“comphet”)—how church culture, gender scripts, and fear of exclusion pushed us to date men, plan marriages, and mistake deep friendship for attraction. We share the slow, messy process of naming queerness, ... more
Evelyn, Veronica, and Cade compare the wildly different messages men and women receive in Catholic spaces—porn-and-purity men’s talks vs. dignity-and-modesty women’s talks—then track how those scripts shape deconstruction, dating, and identity. From ... more
We sit down with Cherie - aka “The Canceled Christian” - to unpack life inside high-control evangelical spaces: homeschooling, purity culture, and rules at Pensacola Christian College, plus the cracks that formed during 2020 and after Dobbs. Cherie s... more

Plus side: this kind of content is so needed, namely: to examine the damaging effects of high-control Catholicism and ask hard questions.
Minus side: it is difficult (at least for me) to listen to these two. The number of times they say “like” & talk like the cast of Clueless is grating on the ears.
I’ve also found so far that the substance of their criticisms includes a fair amount of ad hominem mockery of those they’ve come to disagree with, propping up straw man arguments, or just appealing... more
This is NEEDED, and I’m so appreciative that these women are making it happen. The interviews in particular have been excellent. I do think tightening up the format would take this from good to great (I skip the rose and thorn every time) and polishing some technical stuff would do WONDERS. (Microphone issues, too much rambling, too many uses of “slay.” 🤣) That said, this is sorely needed and a bright spot in my week. Keep it up!!
I’m only two episodes in, and already I’m so appreciative of this podcast. The hosts so articulately describe what it’s like to deconstruct fundamental Catholicism. I left the church seven years ago and don’t have many, if any, friends who have experienced what I have. I wish I’d had a resource like this when I first left.
It’s hard to find content about this particular corner of Catholicism and the strange world of Steubenville. This is far from being a great podcast, but it’s been a long time since I deconstructed and I’m still processing some things, and I’m finding it helpful.
Been listening since day 1. Ev and Veronica do such a good job drawing you into their stories and making things relatable. Definitely a great resource for anyone coming out of a high demand/high control religious experience!
