I have just found your podcasts because I am searching for enlightened language to use about dealing with white racism in particular with a predominantly white population where the term “racism” is avoided. The term “white supremacy” as dealt with your podcasts still conjures visions of aggressive white American extremists - therefore an excuse for most white New Zealand’s to not deal with racism and to deny that they are part and parcel of the consequences of a very white structure since coloni... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Three Stages of Book Marketing with Jenn de Paula
Q: When do you start thinking about marketing your book? Do you wait until you have the book deal or the copies are printed?
It needs to start as early as possible because an agent is going to say, where's your author platform? That takes time.
The Three Stages of Book Marketing with Jenn de Paula
Q: What are other avenues for building an audience, or connecting with your readers?
If social media didn't exist, which it didn't just a few years ago, you could start your own reading group or book club and find the thing that you're going to enjoy.
The Three Stages of Book Marketing with Jenn de Paula
Q: What are some of the biggest mistakes you see authors make when they get on social media?
A very big mistake is thinking that your marketing begins and ends on social media. It is a fantastic awareness building tool but should not be the only means of connecting with readers.
The Secret Life of A Book Influencer with Jananie K. Velu
Q: What do you think individual authors can do to maybe improve their chances of having their books covered by influencers?
They need to engage genuinely and organically with the influencer's content before reaching out about their book, ensuring that their connection is meaningful.
The Secret Life of A Book Influencer with Jananie K. Velu
Q: Can you just share a little bit about how that happened?
Jananie initially started her YouTube as a hobby but began attracting attention and talks about gradually realizing she could turn it into a side hustle.
