  • My favorite podcast

Thank you so much for your time and research on the podcast! I’ve really enjoyed it. I have a topic request… can you cover occult or New Age “philosophy”, magical thinking, and/or surrealism?

  • I’m getting so much out of this show

I’ve leaned so much philosophy applicable to everyday problems from this show. It strikes such a good balance between the academic and approachable. The episodes on dark moods and breakups helped me so much through my own breakup.

Talking Politics with Sarah Stein Lubrano
Q: What do we need?
We need social infrastructure that enables us to form new social connections and create conditions for more meaningful political engagement and action.
Talking Politics with Sarah Stein Lubrano
Q: But you argue that this approach is totally misguided. Politics is not about discourse, it is rather about action. Why is it that talking politics is largely fruitless?
Most of the time when people talk about politics, they do not move their opinions basically at all, according to various studies on discourse.
Aztec Philosophy with Sebastian Purcell
Q: What is the ethics of rootedness?
Rootedness indicates being connected to one's community, environment, and relationships, emphasizing action and living a good life rather than solely aiming for happiness.
Aztec Philosophy with Sebastian Purcell
Q: What makes the Aztecs pessimists? Is that a fair characterization?
Purcell agrees that it's a fair characterization, noting that their cosmology views existence as inherently unstable and that happiness is fleeting without necessarily leading to a justified existence.
Togetherness with Dan Zahavi
Q: How might phenomenologists' views of communal togetherness encourage us to think about what it means to be together in a new way?
Phenomenologists emphasize the importance of direct, face-to-face communication, as it allows for recognizing others as individuals rather than as mere representatives of a group, which can help counteract prejudices and enhance understanding between diverse communities.
