Great podcast we constantly push each other off the number one spot in Ireland for nature. Check out the Burren Nature Sanctuary podcast ‘Nature Magic’. If you like this you are going to like Nature Magic too!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Living And The Dead
Q: How was the history of the corn bunting relevant to modern agricultural practices?
The corn bunting lost its habitat due to shifts in farming practices towards pasture land and the use of pesticides, which diminished the insects and seeds required for its survival.
The Living And The Dead
Q: What prayer has The Living and the Dead in it?
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
The Living And The Dead
Q: Was that a conscious decision when you were planning your book?
Absolutely, yes, that was definitely what I wanted to convey, really, I suppose, just to, like you said, to give that sense of loss.
Happy Retirement To Dr. Matthew Jebb
Q: Did you have thoughts about how you would direct the botanic gardens differently when you were not the director?
Yes, I focused on tweaking things to concentrate on the Irish flora and worked on the publication of several floras.
Happy Retirement To Dr. Matthew Jebb
Q: Matthew, have you seen changes in the climate impacting the botanic gardens and the collections?
Yes, the number of trees we are losing indicates that the climate has become too dry for certain species to survive in Dublin.
