I work with wildfire preparedness efforts in Northern California and this podcast is spot on with my experience. We are fortunate not have had a serious fire here since the Oakland Hills fire in the early 90’s. Another one is due and I am very concerned about the same thing happening here as it did in Palisades.
As an Australian that followed the Palisades wildfire closely, this was a well-rounded and informative podcast showing the perspectives & experiences of a group, which between season 1 and 2, became so well-informed and showed the progression and drive a community group can make. Powerful, impact storytelling. Hearing those I look up to and admire so much in those moments and days during and after the fire was heavy but deeply inspiring. Very well crafted piece.
Just heart wrenching -as a Palisades fire victim hearing the stories of these firefighters and the volunteer groups is absolutely heroic. All the trauma is still really fresh even a year later. Could not be more grateful for these people and their commitment to doing their job despite the unrelenting circumstances.
Really enjoyed this. Compelling storytelling and appreciate that it hones in on what works (and doesn’t) for a serious issue rather than just gawking at tragedy. Looking forward to part 2.
