Thank you Rik for giving so much in this show. I found it after you stopped recording and it’s been an absolute goldmine for me as someone new to comedy! Looking forward to taking your online course as well. Dive into this show archive people! I especially love all the joke help, and when you would work out a premise, then try it out live and report back; gold!!
I have been doing comedy serious for the last 3 years. I only found this podcast 6 months ago, but I wish I would have found it 3 years ago! It is a MUST Listen to podcast for the aspiring and veteran comedian. It teaches you both how to be a comedian AND the business side of comedy. I use things that I have learned from the podcast everyday as a comedian. From how I do marketing to how to deal with clients and of course how I write jokes and everything in between have been influenced from ... more
I really love this podcast. Really informative and yet super entertaining. I would recommend to anyone interested in comedy, especially if you are a comedian as it is packed with actionable steps for upping your game!
I love listening to Rik and his guests! I am a music theory professor, and while theory is a required course, many students don’t enjoy it. I’ve found if I pepper in humor, students are much more likely to stay engaged. This podcast is a great resource as I continually study being funny while speaking.
So I’m new to stand up. I’m still putting together a set for when all this corona stuff ends and while I wait, this podcast has help me a lot. Appreciate all the advice mate!!!
As a currently out of work full time comedian, I enjoyed getting the episode Rik put together, interviewing people around the globe regarding the state of comedy in their countries. Certainly highlighted the fact that we are in a seismic industry shift that may never return to BC (Before Covid) norms. Thanks, Rik.
While the nation waits on a COVID vaccine, I found the cure to my comedy blues. All any angsty comic need do is ingest all 215 episodes of Rik’s stellar show. He’s kind, savvy, and committed to the craft—an ace through and through
Rik Robert’s School of Laughs is a great resource to have for anybody that is a comedian or speaker. The podcast is foremost very informative and also a great entertainment. And through the website you can search for just about any topic, question or problem you might encounter in your career and Rik will have an insightful answer for it.
I originally signed up for one of Rik’s online courses and plowed through it ASAP because he knows what he’s talking about and it’s obvious he cares and wants aspiring comics and even seasoned comics to be more successful. The School of Laughs Podcast is no different. Tons of great information, great convos with great and funny people. Rik proves when you have laughter in common you can talk about just about anything and learn from each other. I also like the generous way his guests share infor... more
Nooo!!!! I just binge-listened to all the available episodes of the School of Laughs podcast and now I have to wait for more episodes to drop one by one like the rest of the world. I have learned so much from this podcast ..Rik is a gifted interviewer and also offers some incredible insights of his own, taking us on a journey through the backdoor of stand-up comedy. Thank you, I have appreciated every episode!
This podcast with Rik is the most informative for a new (or wanna be) comic! I started all the way back at the first episode available and have been listening non stop! It was recommended to me from a newer comic (3-1/2 yrs) and they were right, there is so much information it takes time to absorb it all! I look forward to doing his online writing class.
School of Laughs is a “must” podcast if you’re learning the nuts and bolts of talking funny. Not only for host Rik Roberts’ own deep well of knowledge, he’s a straight to the point interviewer who brings out great wisdom from his deep bench of guests. I found out about this podcast from word of mouth of pro touring comics, so you need to listen if nothing else then to keep up with what everyone else is learning.
The School of Laughs podcast has been incredibly valuable for me. I can’t recommend it highly enough for people who are wanting to learn and grow in the art and business of stand up. There may be lots of ways to get better and more bookable as a stand up, but this podcast is one of the best. Rik Roberts knows what he’s talking about and brings in other pros that have really helped me.
An excellent podcast for comics, but also anybody who needs to get on stage. Whether you're trying to be funny or just get through a speech at your office, Rik and his guests will teach you a lot about putting together presentations and delivering them in an effective way.
I'm listening to Rik Roberts School of Laughs podcast like it's my job. Oh, I guess it is.
I'm implementing his tips, tricks, and techniques in my corporate wellness programs, food columns and blog. Stand up is not my goal, but as a Patreon supporter, his Club 52 weekly challenges push me to improve my business and platforms. I'm delighted to be flexing my "make it funny" muscle and investing in myself. Thanks, Rik!
