  • Season 4 Format Misses the Mark

Seasons 1-3 were excellent. Engaging, expertly researched and great story telling. Insightful and great listens. Season 4 turns this into a celebrity interview podcast just like all the others. Celebrity interviews bring more listeners, that why they are so popular. It’s hard not to conclude this format change isn’t simply a money grab. And it’s a saturated market. If you are a history fan, season 4 won’t compare to the previous. If you like celebrity interviews…it’s mediocre at best.

  • Season 4 made trash

As a student of history, and a fan of comedy and Ed Helms, I loved this podcast. Seasons 1-3 were a great joy for me to sit and get some in depth information as well as a fun story. I do not like the new format of season 4. More to the point, the addition of these special guests to talk about the topic is just an incredible waste of my time.

In the first episode of the season it took forever for them to get into any kind of history talk. Actually I’ll take that back, they spoke at length of THE... more

  • Entertaining and informative listen

I’ve only listened to season 1, but Ive found the format to be very engaging and informative. Ed does a really good job of weaving facts and interviews into a coherent storyline. For what its worth it seems like many of the more negative reviews are from Reagan apologists/idolizers who refuse to evaluate him objectively. I doubt Ed is a fan of Reagan, but he also isnt unfairly hard on him.
