Pretty big fumble to let Troy even consider leaving. The podcast was successful because it was uniquely passionate, funny, and accurate, and this feels like some founders not understanding what has impact in the media and the city. No one wants a podcast that is a simple reporting of local facts, and no one wants the ai summary newsletters either.
You had an edge, and now that edge is going to go make triple figures somewhere that sees how well Troy has read the moment. I hope anyway.
So much better with just Mack.
I’ve listened to more than a hundred episodes, and while I still only speak English and French, I have enjoyed following this podcast.
Two overgrown undergrads parrot the standard #yegtwitter lines about municipal affairs. It’s not a bad roundup of what’s going on in city council. But their analysis of the issues is sometimes superficial, and — sorry guys — their jokes aren’t funny. Two stars for trying. But it would be less of a hate listen if they took a more journalistic tone and cut back on the echo-chamber editorializing.
Troy and Mac really do their homework to help us stay informed on the workings behind the walls at city hall. Although not guaranteed to keep one’s blood pressure down, I still appreciate their highlights of the machinations of council workings.
