This is one of the most interesting and informative podcasts out there.
As someone who is progressive/liberal, this podcast started off great, but the longer and longer you listen to it the more it sounds like conservative talk radio. Lots of fear mongering, scolding tone, and really really really really really really bad editing. I cannot emphasize how bad that editing is.
Brave and smart.
I just wish so much wasn’t behind a paywall. Episodes don’t resolve or end and make me very unlikely to pay for a subscription.
A crucial resource for understanding 1) the current cultural moment of heightened authoritarianism, particularly in the US and 2) for many of us, the content of our own religious pasts. Brad and Dan deal with texts and events with highly rigorous scholarly thought that is nonetheless accessible to anyone who can follow, say, an NPR-lecel discussion.
