  • Better than therapy

You guys help me so much.

Even if much of it is over my head, it is a reminder of the thoughtfulness req’d to take care of a home.

Sadly the so-called professionals who come to my home & take all my money do nothing but mess it up more.

On a less negative note, I love learning, and tools, and taking care of my old home to the extent I can… and I really enjoy listening.

Thank you so much! I admire y’all

  • lots of yammering, not much research

So much time with the hosts yapping back and forth with each other or diving off on a tangent and not addressing the question at hand; less than half is actual relevant info.

I’ve given it a few tries, but they don’t deliver much actual info, and a good bit of what they are delivering is inaccurate and/or inco... more

#712: What Clients Want, Heat During Construction, and Enclosure Retrofit Sanity Check
Q: Is this a reasonable approach for my planned exterior retrofit?
While the proposed assembly seems reasonable, pay attention to climate zone-specific issues, the potential risks of condensation and air barriers, and possibly consult on the effectiveness of added insulation.
#712: What Clients Want, Heat During Construction, and Enclosure Retrofit Sanity Check
Q: Could you recommend your preferred methods to provide heat to a home under construction, mostly when it comes to finishing drywall and painting?
It's better to use electric heat or outside gas-fired heaters to avoid additional moisture in the air caused by kerosene or propane heaters.
