Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Carolina Groppa (Angle on Producers, Sylvie's Love, Autism in Love)
Q: What do you tell people who want to be a producer?
I always say like whether you're writing or you're producing, whatever you want to do, you have to just start where you're at.
River Gallo (Ponyboi, Every Body)
Q: Can you just talk about a little bit about the path from the short film to the feature?
River describes the process of writing a draft of the feature a year after the short, outlining how lessons learned shaped the final product.
Michael Waldron (Chad Powers, Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness)
Q: Do you think now having worked on such big IP, and I'm sure you're at a point now where you've been floated lots of different IP, and I'm sure you're in a position where you can kind of choose what you want to pursue?
It's important to find a compelling story within any IP, and while there's potential in all stories, audience expectations can present challenges.
Michael Waldron (Chad Powers, Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness)
Q: What do you think it is about Dan Harmon, as someone who's spent a little bit of time or a lot of time in that circle, how is he able to seemingly so easily talk about story?
Dan Harmon is considered a genius in storytelling; his authenticity and command of language allow him to make the writing process relatable and engaging.
Maggie Levin (The Black Phone 2, My Valentine)
Q: Can you share with us, you only have to choose one, either a high, a low, or a hell no from your career thus far?
The hell no is taking on material just to have a job. I will never again go after material or get into something creatively that I don't with my whole being love.
