  • Awesome!

This is my go to podcast when I’m out for a walk! Dave is an excellent interviewer and I love listening to how people in our industry got their start and developed a career. His website TheOp.io is another great source of information. As a camera operator I incorporate their invaluable advice into my work on set!

Operator Kat Kallergis
Q: What advice would you give someone getting into the business today?
Don't sell yourself as something you're not. It's worse if you act like you know more than you do because the people you're working with will see right through it.
Operator Kat Kallergis
Q: What's your story? How did you get to where you are?
I was lucky to have a teacher in high school that set up a video production program, and I evolved from there into video production programs in community college and then film school at NYU.
Operator Kat Kallergis
Q: Is live stuff just completely wild? Is it just a total adrenaline rush when you're doing something live?
Yeah, I think so. It's part of my love for it. The adrenaline that's involved is a big factor.
Cinematographer Clair Popkin
Q: What advice do you have for succeeding in this industry?
Do everything 100 percent, and don't half-ass anything, as your work ethic will be noticed and will open more opportunities.
Cinematographer Clair Popkin
Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in getting into the documentary world?
Start by making a documentary about something you know well, as it allows for better storytelling and understanding of elements to cover.
