  • Impact of Kortney on my life

This podcast has had some of the best topics and guests. Kortney is amazing at just being herself … her true self. She doesn’t hold back and can somehow help you relate to exactly what she is saying. When she gets emotional, I can feel it - not because our experiences are the same but because the feelings are so similar. The last episode 12 which speaks about trauma and PTSD, Kortney shares a private revelation and the negative impact it has on her well being. The emotion and the pain resonated ... more

  • Season Finale Episode: PTSD

5 stars. Real and Raw; Also Optimistic and Funny. What a great conversation between Kortney and an expert in PTSD. Ther were jaw-dropping tidbits but more importantly, there was a real and painful and funny and pragmatic conversation about trauma. Great listen.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Amy and Lachie: The Heavy Parts of Hope | Shit Stick of Life Podcast | S2 E13
Q: What should they absolutely, what are each of your top things that they should absolutely avoid saying at all costs?
Amy believes that saying 'it'll happen' is a well-intentioned but hurtful phrase; it implies a certainty that may not exist. Lachlan echoes this sentiment, noting that infertility struggles are often more negatively skewed, thus making such comments hard to hear.
Jules Kaden Black: Every Body Suffers | Shit Stick of Life Podcast | S2 E14
Q: What's one thing you want listeners to walk away with today?
Doing it with love for yourself, not just because someone else told you to do it.
Kelsey Darragh: Breaking Down, Bouncing Back | Shit Stick of Life Podcast | S2 E11
Q: What is your perspective on accountability in the context of restorative justice?
Restorative justice asks what the survivor actually wants, moving away from traditional punitive systems.
Kelsey Darragh: Breaking Down, Bouncing Back | Shit Stick of Life Podcast | S2 E11
Q: What led to your decision to write the workbook 'Don't Fucking Panic'?
It was driven by my experiences with panic attacks and the realization that many things were not covered in therapy.
Kelsey Darragh: Breaking Down, Bouncing Back | Shit Stick of Life Podcast | S2 E11
Q: What was your entry point into comedy and all the things that you're doing now? What was that major shift for you?
Being the youngest child in a busy family, I sought attention by performing. It made sense to my parents to put me in theater camp.
