  • It was a good show

I really like the show, but I don’t like the new format. Sometimes I listen sometimes I don’t. It is now just a regular new show and their interviews are pretty scripted.

  • New show not as good as the old one.

Hello major, I’ve always loved your reporting going back years. However, it seems like you were fearful of the Trump administration and I do not mean to be disrespectful, but to get you back to being the hard Nose honor a supporter you used to be particularly your show you had a month or so ago with Peter Navarro. You asked Peter about his Trump‘s tariffs, and Peter gives a answer, and you accepted his truth. What was particularly disturbing to me was the fact of as you know during the campaign... more

  • Doesn’t read

If you can’t read the books, maybe you shouldn’t be doing this. You don’t hear Terry Gross saying, “oh I only read 14 pages of your book.” Because good interviewers know how to read.

  • No more CBS News or entertainment

I really enjoyed this podcast. However, now that Trump owns CBS I will not be watching any news shows or listening to any podcasts associated with CBS. It’s an abomination.

  • Best!

Insight and ability to ask meaningful questions are the best in the industry bar none. Also excellent with Chad Hartman Friday afternoons on WCCO radio.

The Takeout with Major Garrett, 1/26/26
Q: Senator, you have suggested legislatively and otherwise that there is an over broad interpretation of Second Amendment rights in our country and more regulation ought to be done on behalf of public safety. I wonder how you are analyzing the Second Amendment conflicts that have cropped up within the Trumpian movement after Alex Pretti's death.
Murphy points out the hypocrisy of the Trump administration, suggesting they justify Pretti's death due to him legally carrying a gun while advocating for concealed carry laws. He argues that complying with state law shouldn't lead to being marked for deadly force.
The Takeout with Major Garrett, 1/26/26
Q: Senator, summarize the weekend in Minneapolis and what you believe the events there might mean for the future of the country.
Senator Murphy describes Minneapolis as out of control with DHS and ICE disobeying the law and suggests that the easiest action would be for ICE to leave the city. He argues that the Trump administration's handling of immigration is causing chaos and lawlessness across the country, resulting in widespread horror among Americans.
The Takeout with Major Garrett, 1/28/26
Q: What should President Trump do regarding the situation in Minneapolis?
He should focus on a reset and prioritize security and immigration reform.
The Takeout with Major Garrett, 1/28/26
Q: Do you feel safe?
Yes, I've never felt unsafe in public settings, but I condemn the attack on Congresswoman Omar.
The Takeout with Major Garrett, 1/29/26
Q: Define for your purposes, Senator Durbin, what real reform looks like?
Real reform basically is the end of the killing of innocent people in Minneapolis and across the nation.
