The writer / narrator peppers these episodes with a subtle critical humour, and a relatable curiosity. But the Wild Episode goes deep into the science, just barely avoiding the weeds of biology, oceanography, anatomy, evolution; of prehistory, modern history, and climate change. While citing research, the narrator is appreciably cautious about lore and scientific pitfalls (over generalization, misused statistics etc). Not your average animal lover’s podcast.

Beautifully researched and beautifully read, The Wild Episode is an absolute gem of a podcast. I am always entertained, amused and educated by every episode. As a professional ecologist, it’s a delight to find a nature podcast that sticks so rigorously to the facts and yet never for a second loses that sense of wonder that is one of the best things about being alive.
