  • If you're looking for an audio drama which does not involve high concepts of fantasy, sci-fi, horror, or the supernatural, I'm not sure you can do better than This Thing of Darkness. Beware that the subject matter is extremely dark. The show includes graphic descriptions of violent crimes which you may find deeply unsettling. However, they are not gratituitous in any way but completely necessary to the unfolding story and its resolution, which ultimately is a message of hope.

  • S3 hard to follow

The first 2 seasons were compelling but season 3 is harder to follow with the timeline constantly changing, multiple male characters with strong accents and a story line that takes longer to emerge.

  • Compelling

Started listening to pass the time while washing dishes before bed, stopped listening at the end of season 1 as the dawn light filtered through the window. Compelling, tightly written, a satisfying ending and I’m now left with an uncomfortable sense of empathy for those who have to live with the aftermath of their horrific crimes. What excellent acting all round.
