聽起來像惡作劇，但日本大阪大學的武部貴則教授真的把它推進了人體臨床試驗，甚至從搞笑諾貝爾獎，一路進化成可能的醫學突破。
靈感其實來自大自然。烏龜、豬、魚類、齧齒動物都能在緊急時刻靠腸道換氣，讓氧氣透過腸壁的血管進入體內，暫時取代肺的工作。研究團隊因此假設：如果把高含氧液體「全氟化碳」從直腸填入，人類是否也能進行腸道呼吸？
