  • Can’t get enough of this show

Thanks Brett. You are doing great service. David is fantastic but we need you to help break it down for lay people like me. I dig any thing available publicly on DD and have multiple copies of both books. Each time you read it you get something new and it feels amazing. I read the chapter and hear your episode breakdown simultaneously - and that’s how I get the best of DD.

  • A gem

I know not how I chanced on this podcast. I disagree with some of the views of the chap. However it’s very thought provoking and reasonable. Refreshingly calm and unembittered.

Beautifully produced, proper mic and prepared delivery, pleasant voice. Excellent in its area, and has quite some range. And I hope you don’t mind me saying that it’s a joy for an insomniac; can listen for a good stretch, be intellectually stimulated, and perchance, drift off.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 227: "What is Capitalism?" - an encounter between Objectivism and Critical Rationalism.
Q: Is democracy necessary for protecting individual rights?
Democracy in its pure form, particularly majority rule, is detrimental to individual rights. A system protecting individual rights is essential, independent of voting.
Ep 227: "What is Capitalism?" - an encounter between Objectivism and Critical Rationalism.
Q: What is capitalism? Why do we need to defend it and what's going wrong right now?
Capitalism is a historical achievement that provides the environment for human beings to thrive through individual rights and freedoms. Its defense is necessary because lack of awareness towards its principles and increased government regulation has led to a societal retreat from capitalist values.
Ep 225: Livestream from November 27, 2024
Q: What conditions must exist for knowledge to grow indefinitely, and how can we improve our system to ensure this growth continues?
We must maintain the traditions of the Enlightenment, which include protecting the means of error correction, free speech, capitalism, and the right to vote. This will give us the best chance of fostering the growth of knowledge indefinitely.
Ep 225: Livestream from November 27, 2024
Q: What are the episodes you're most proud of?
I guess I'm proud of the Nexus episode where I connected David Deutsch's Four Strands from 'The Fabric of Reality.' I also liked the interview I did with David Deutsch in episode 100 and episode 99 where I summed up 'The Beginning of Infinity' episodes.
Ep 225: Livestream from November 27, 2024
Q: Why did you start ToKCast and did you ever think it would reach this many listeners or did you not care?
The reason I started ToKCast was to try to understand 'The Beginning of Infinity' for myself better, explaining it through video for an audience. I didn't expect to have many listeners, but I began to have specific people in mind after a few episodes, which encouraged me.
