  • Used to love this show for years, but not anymore

Podcast has become excessively chatty in recent years especially when Dr. Emma is on. The constant giggly chitchat is annoying and I have to sift through schoolgirl gossip to find Tudor topics. The chattiness, banter and nonstop laughter get on my nerves. I love Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn but not when other topics are up for discussion. I unsubscribed.

  • Disappointed in Episode

This could have been an interesting discussion of two strong kings. But the overwhelming chit chat between host and guest ruined the experience. Jokes about the ninja turtles, seriously??

Anglo-Saxon Women: Power, Reputation, and Choice
Q: What would their life have looked like or how would it have been different between ordinary women and noble women?
Noble women had more rights and were educated, while ordinary women's lives are less documented but involved household management and textile work.
Anne of Cleves: The Queen Who Could Have Been
Q: What do you want readers to understand about the value of administrative records, especially for women's history?
The value of the accounts is that they don't have an agenda. They provide a clearer view of women's agency without bias.
Anne of Cleves: The Queen Who Could Have Been
Q: What made you focus on Anne of Cleves as the one that you wanted to look at?
My interest in Anne's accounts begins with the idea of wanting to know more about her household rather than about Anne.
Parallel Lives: Jane Boleyn and Henry Parker, Lord Morely
Q: What did Jane bring to her marriage compared to George?
Jane likely had a more noble heritage than George, making her a better match in the marriage market at that time.
Parallel Lives: Jane Boleyn and Henry Parker, Lord Morely
Q: What do you think the relationship between Jane and George was?
We don't know much about their relationship, but it's suggested they had a normal marriage despite some modern interpretations.
