  • Such a great listen

I absolutely love this podcast. I love deep dives on the topics they choose, and the way they explore all that is unspoken. The host is so knowledgeable about a range of topics and brings on excellent guests to dive even deeper. I can’t say enough good things!

  • screen time

Non-parents who are also not pediatricians or child development researchers, especially characters in the smug podcaster cinematic universe, SIMPLY MUST stop calling screen time among children a “moral panic.” You just don’t know what you’re talking about.

  • Affluent white lady discovers things

While the show does an excellent job picking interesting topics, the analyses and explanations are often cursory, sometimes flawed, and often biased towards lazy liberal tropes (e.g. the patriarchy is the cause of something) without deeper reflection. Stylistically, the host’s tone often seems breezy and unserious even when discussing heavy topics. And I often chuckle at the enthusiastic way they explain something as if they are the first (white, affluent) people to discover it. The show has a g... more

  • Well intentioned but lacking

This podcast is good for having on in the background and/or if you want a lighthearted discussion to listen to. Although she seems well-intentioned and caring, the host is incredibly out of touch. She is an affluent white woman and it shows (she always talks about how she lives on an island in her other podcast). So, she has a pretty narrow view of different aspects of culture, and oftentimes is tone deaf when it comes to socioeconomic issues. I also feel like her analyses of topics is pretty su... more

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is Everyone an Influencer Now?
Q: What makes someone a real influencer?
It involves creating content in a niche that reflects personal life, often accompanied by commercial partnerships, but the line between expert and content creator is becoming increasingly blurred.
Is Everyone an Influencer Now?
Q: How do you see influencer work and cultural consumption affecting work expectations at large?
The expectation of fusion between personal and professional identities is becoming more pronounced, especially in feminized professions, and can be challenging for employees who wish to maintain boundaries.
Let's Collectively Fantasize About a Family-Friendly Society
Q: How can we keep queer parents in the mix of these conversations about family-friendly society?
It's essential to create welcoming spaces for all parents, recognize the unique challenges queer parents face and extend the support and resources to men in parenting roles equally as to women.
Let's Collectively Fantasize About a Family-Friendly Society
Q: How do we create a family-friendly society that recognizes multiple kinds of family obligations?
We need to expand policies to be inclusive of various types of caregiving responsibilities, not just for parents but also for those caring for aging parents, ill partners, and even oneself.
What's So Great About a Freaking Hobby?
Q: How do you balance participating in your hobby and wanting to share it without being too online about it?
Doree started a newsletter about it. I just sort of feel like if you are enjoying it and it feels like something you wanna share, not everyone wants to share it. If you wanna share it, go ahead.
