  • Due any day now…

This popped up at the top of my list when searching for convos about postpartum exercise and it was reassuring to hear I could do a low impact routine right away to rebuild core strength as I have very significant diastastis recti. It feels very timely that this pod just launched. Thanks for the info and plan!

  • 🏃🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️🤰🏻💗

Grateful that Karlie is sharing her knowledge and experiences! As a first time mom and avid runner/general body mover, it feels like there is not enough research and information out there for moms who are just trying to navigate body movement postpartum. Karlie explains things clearly and her experience of exercising before, during, and after pregnancy (x3!) offers a unique relatability in a time when many feel isolated. Grateful for this resource and can’t wait to hear what’s next!

31. Strong Moms, Real Stories with Erika S.
Q: What would you say to other moms who are highly athletic and physical and want to get back to it?
I appreciated the intentional, slower pace of building back up and feeling my strength build along the way.
34. Kegels, Diastasis, and More with Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist Dr. Mae
Q: What should every pregnant woman understand about the relationship between pelvic floor health and overall strength?
Pregnancy and postpartum are not just about change; women can become stronger and more intentional about their fitness, adapting to changes and focusing on pelvic health for better overall strength.
34. Kegels, Diastasis, and More with Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist Dr. Mae
Q: What are some mistakes you see with pregnant athletic women?
High-level athletes often continue to push heavy weights throughout pregnancy without modifying their training, while newcomers might avoid strength training altogether. Both extremes can hinder recovery and effectiveness during labor.
34. Kegels, Diastasis, and More with Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist Dr. Mae
Q: What are some misconceptions women have about their pelvic floor?
A common misconception is that Kegels are the only solution. Many women may need to address pelvic floor tension rather than just strengthening. It's essential to fully engage and relax the pelvic floor.
34. Kegels, Diastasis, and More with Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist Dr. Mae
Q: What should women look for with pelvic floor stuff during pregnancy?
Women should start paying attention to their pelvic floor early in pregnancy, ideally working with a pelvic floor physical therapist to learn about proper contraction and engagement, mobility, and address any muscle tension or weaknesses that could affect recovery.
