  • Brilliant, but the exaggerated German accents spoil lit.

    The podcast tells new stories, often introducing previously unknown fates, while carefully avoiding Holocaust kitsch. If only it weren’t for the unnatural and exaggerated German accents when native German speakers are made to speak English—no one actually talks like that!

  • I've been binging since finding this podcast. I'm 61. I was born in Philadelphia. My Father was born in Berlin in 1931 and his parents were also born in Berlin. My family fled Berlin in April 1939 and landed in Shanghai. My grandfather being a man of means and greatly respected throughout Berlin, was able to smuggle out much more.than most and.was.then able to live in a relatively prosperous life in Shanghai.
