  • You need to spend some time discussing

How Fed Soc will respond when the Women’s Health Protection Act passes in early 2025 and the GOP finds itself generationally incapable of regaining a majority to change that. Will it just be a sad little ACA redux afterwards? Interested in hearing your thoughts.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

[2025 NLC] Showcase Panel 2: Immigration and Originalism
Q: What are the tools of originalism and why do they matter when it comes to the pressing issue of immigration?
Originalism is about interpreting the Constitution through text, history, and structure, which can inform contemporary immigration debates.
Panel II: Congress and the Constitution: The Separation of Powers in Action
Q: What steps can Congress take to reclaim its authority and remedy the issues of legislative dysfunction and executive overreach?
Congress should consider reforms to ensure that its legislative processes are more transparent and accessible, such as requiring a minimum review period before votes on legislation and addressing outdated rules that centralize power among leadership.
Panel II: Congress and the Constitution: The Separation of Powers in Action
Q: Can Congress have other purposes for its investigations that advance a political agenda or bolster the President's agenda?
Yes, Congress often investigates for various reasons, including political motives, but these investigations must articulate a legislative purpose to remain constitutional.
Panel II: Congress and the Constitution: The Separation of Powers in Action
Q: How has the second Trump administration's actions with respect to congressional power differed from or been similar to previous administrations?
While administrations of both parties have historically pushed the boundaries of executive authority, the current administration's claims seem to be significantly different and more brazen, lacking plausible legal justifications and presenting a sheer scope of actions that deviates from previous norms.
Closing Banquet and Fireside Chat with Hon. James C. Ho and Allyson Newton Ho, and Presentation of the Annual Joseph Story Award and Feddie
Q: What is your perspective on the current state of law schools regarding free speech?
The culture on campuses today makes learning difficult; there should be open dialogue and honest disagreements.
