  • Has potential but needs work

Robert reads his answers in a bit robotic cadence. Also Robert needs to stop pushing vaccines left and right.

  • Tough Listen

While the content and guests can be interesting and informative, the (very) obvious scripting of the interactions (and poor presentation) is an auditory nightmare. Try a natural conversation with talking points.

Also, for the sake of all of us, Robert Pearl does not have to refer to “Jeremy” with the beginning of each thought. It’s just the two of them talking, he doesn’t have to remind us who that one person is in. Every. Single. Sentence.

  • It sounds like a teacher reading to the class🥴

The content and topics are on point, but its so clear they’re reading from scripts. Hard to listen to. Totally ruins it for me

  • Too scripted

This is painful to listen to, they sound so scripted! It doesn’t sound like a real conversation. Also it wouldn’t hurt them to find women to be on the show!

  • Fools Erand

Interesting discussions of the current problems with the USA healthcare system. However, as a retired physician with 30 years experience, I don’t believe there is a solution. There are too many stakeholders with their own self serving agendas. Any attempts will be sabotaged.

FHC #203: Dead ends, failures & the unlikely path to medical progress
Q: What kind of lessons and insights do you have about the balance between getting optimal care and the cost of providing that care?
I mean, it's not my area of expertise, but I would certainly say that we can't afford not to.
FHC #203: Dead ends, failures & the unlikely path to medical progress
Q: How does history, medical history, inform us about that particular risk-benefit ratio?
You look at... it's a huge question. And one of the things we really were cognizant of with this children's book is we didn't want to scare kids about medicine.
FHC #203: Dead ends, failures & the unlikely path to medical progress
Q: Could you tell listeners a little bit about the history of blood and the most interesting parts of that chapter that you recall?
The history of blood transfusions became of interest to me with the Facemaker, which is about Harold Gillies, the father of modern plastic surgery, and there were a lot of advances that came out of the First World War, including advances in blood transfusion.
FHC #203: Dead ends, failures & the unlikely path to medical progress
Q: Can you talk about how the book really shows, especially young people who it is very crushing for, that failure can often lead to some of the biggest successes ever?
It's part of the process of elimination, of getting to the success, isn't it? There's a line we use in the book which is that sometimes, you know, what looks like a dead end is actually just a change of direction in disguise.
FHC #201: Mark Cuban’s blunt diagnosis of what’s broken in healthcare
Q: What are your thoughts around these costs preventing people from becoming entrepreneurs, and do you have any ideas for innovation and health insurance for those who are self-employed or small businesses?
It's a real challenge for small companies, and right now, there's not a great solution... I would probably try to go to a reinsurance company, and say that I want to get reinsurance for $75,000, and offer a program to all of our content creators.
