I really appreciate how articulate and informed you are. I was In AA for ten years. I had seven years of “sobriety” and then returned as a “chronic relapser” before I finally left.
I cannot say this strongly enough- if you are in AA and feel that something is “off,” listen to yourself. Leave.
Thankfully, there are other options to address substance use disorder. Please leave if you want. I left and was just fine - no jail, etc etc.
