經文：路加福音十八：1-14
接著耶穌作了關於禱告的教導，包括如何恆切禱告，晝夜呼籲，以及作真誠而非宗教性的禱告。
一、常常禱告不可灰心
首先，「耶穌設一個比喻，是要人常常禱告，不可灰心。」禱告之所以會灰心，是因為無法即時獲得答案，「灰心」與「常常」剛好是相反的。
要如何可以不灰心的常常禱告，有幾個重要的元素，其一是迫切感，其二要找對求助的對象。
這個比喻就具備這兩點，「寡婦……有一個對頭」，造成她的迫切感，因為如果不解決，她會持續受害。

首先，談到的是「神的國幾時來到？」這是法利賽人對耶穌提出的質疑。猶太人在等待彌賽亞，他們認為彌賽亞來到掌權，帶下神的國，讓他們復國有望，因為他們把神的國與以色列國視為同等。因此當他們質問耶穌「神的國幾時來到？」時，等於在挑戰他何時勝過列國，重新掌權，復興以色列國，否則，他真的是彌賽亞嗎？
