  • Fearing being taken seriously.

Michelle Cottle, you’re starting to sound really annoying — laughing at inappropriate times, piping up while your co-hosts are talking, repeatedly sophomorically referring to these respected men as “guys.” THESE ARE SERIOUS TIMES. Stop desperately trying to lighten the mood. We women need to get better at expressing ourselves such that we’re taken seriously. I’ve noticed generally women on podcasts (hosts or guests) often seem almost afraid of simply speaking forthrightly, relying on nervous lau... more

  • I don’t like the tagline, but do love the podcast.

I’m always irritated by the tagline, since I don’t want anyone telling me what to think. But the podcast does deliver what I want - informing about facts and the opinions of others so I can decide what I think.

  • News Trifecta

After the demise of Matter of Opinion, I am so thrilled that Michelle Cottle is a regular host on the Opinion podcast with Jamelle and David! The latter are so nerdy in a good way and all of them bring a lightheartedness with their banter that is much needed when weighing in all the dark news stories. And I LOVE the recommendations at the end…reminds me of the hot/cold of MOP format. I always look forward to their political and cultural insights, keep up the great work.

  • Not everything is funny, Michelle

I always like the topics, and it’s a great format, but I sincerely wish that Michelle Cottle could stop trying to turn everything into some light hearted laugh moment. The most recent chat about possible war crimes and annihilating the survivors of an illegal boat strike, was really, truly over the line of human decency, and prompted this review. It shocks the conscience of most human beings to even hear the words “fired at the survivors”. To add a bubbly female laugh on top of that is disgustin... more

  • Good Content, Bad Delivery

Quit with the fake laughter and the heavy, heavy jokes. NYT is afraid not to dumb down their content.
