I like Harry a lot and I understand the device of the partner but I find the friend irritating. I’m just waiting for her to finish the banal commentary. Annoying voice too. Sorry - I guess I’m being mean. But I don’t know why I should listen to her ‘thoughts’, it’s like listening to my neighbour rattle on. Harry has earned his chops.

  • Thank you

It is wild how common the kind of relationship crises discussed here is. Particularly ironic is how such a devastating and isolating experience has the potential to bring us together to work through this process of healing. Kudos to Harry and Emma for seeing their own difficult healing processes as an opportunity to support others through this painful yet potentially RICH experience. Their blunt honesty and brutal compassion cuts through the fluff of how we deceive ourselves, encouraging us to... more

  • Comfort Listen

Sometimes I feel really stupid when I think about what I have been willing to tolerate from past partners. Listening to other people’s relationship stories is the cure for that. Firstly, it’s good to know I’m not the only one to have overlooked and excused poor behaviour. Second, and most importantly, I realised that if I can feel empathy and compassion for people who have had similar experiences, then I can give those things to myself too.

Harry and Emma are a joy to spend time with ❤️

  • Brilliant!

Dad hugs on Instagram has helped me so since I went through a tough breakup. Find the advice excellent. So glad Harry has started this podcast. Would maybe like to hear the whole story before it’s broken down but other than that loved this conversation and can’t wait to hear more. Thank you

Q: I don't want to forgive my ex, but I'm worried it's causing me damage. Do I have to forgive them to move on?
You don't have to forgive them to heal, but focusing your attention on your healing is crucial; it's about reclaiming your life and focusing on your own needs.
S2 Episode 2 - Bonfire of the Nervous System
Q: How do I know if I'm just hurt or actually traumatized?

S2 Episode 2 - Bonfire of the Nervous System
Q: Why do we crave the person who hurt us the most?
Pain and attachment fuse together, creating a confusing relationship where the attachment feels safe despite being painful; you might keep returning to the pain in hopes of closure.
S2 Episode 2 - Bonfire of the Nervous System
Q: How do you put the fire out enough to begin recovering?
You have to gradually refuse to give it the fuel, energy, and oxygen that it needs to keep burning; you shouldn't expect to feel better immediately and the healing process is slow but necessary.
S2E1 - A Monster on His Back
Q: How long is it going to take before I feel better?
It depends on how much work you do on yourself; the process of healing is closely correlated to the effort you put in.
