We go somehow deeper than normal this week. In a slight (and temporary, rest assured!) variation of format, we talk with actor and filmmaker Alex Alexander about depictions of grief in Lars Von Trier's The Idiots, Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limite... more

This is such a special show. Alex, Sarah, and their guest hosts do an incredible job using movies to peel back societal layers and gently explore the beautiful, chaotic, poignant, desperate, and hilarious aspects of being a human in the world and in community. Their observations and thoughts allow us to be curious, reflective, and occasionally critical of the way we interact with the world, and allow for gentle growth. The heart they and their team put into each episode shines through every time... more
I discovered this podcast on a solo drive across the country in 2021 and have been listening to it religiously ever since. It’s the podcast of my dreams and the hosts are just the best. Please never stop making this podcast, it’s a part of my being now! My absolute favorite
This is such a cozy listen, even when the episode centers on a not-so-cozy film. This isn’t the kind of movie podcast where you’ll get the scoop on behind-the-scenes mayhem or the various quirks of production (yes, we know the damn shark was broken), but rather what a film says to us now. Alex Steed is a phenomenal host, who brings a wry sense of humor balanced with an incredibly generous capacity for compassion and humanity. Sarah Marshall is at the top of her game, witty and inspiring. Their i... more
I listen to several movie pods, the ones I stick with give me something other than the recap and same hot takes on the characters story arc. YAG is truly a feelings pod about movies and I take away so much every time I listen. Cheers to Alex and the guests for the wonderful conversations and perspectives. Thank you for allowing me to glimpse my favorite films through your lense.
I love the way these people talk about films, it’s witty, vulnerable and reminds me of the way we can all be united through our experiences of art and culture. Also I would have never seen Too Wong Foo Thanks For Everything Love Julie Newmar without it. I’ve also done so many rewatches after hearing a conversation about a film I haven’t thought of in years xxx
