American Hysteria explores how fantastical thinking has shaped our culture – moral panics, urban legends, hoaxes, crazes, fringe beliefs, and national misunderstandings. Poet-turned-podcaster Chelsey Weber-Smith tells the strangest stories from American history and examines the forces that create the reality we share, and sometimes, the reality we don't.

One of my most favorite podcasts. I will happily listen to anything Chelsey is involved in! Adore the wit and thought behind every episode.
I’ve listened to quite a few episodes now and find them really interesting and entertaining. Not being an American I am not fully conversant with American culture but Chelsey gives a lot of background. I enjoy the episodes and there’s lots to listen to.
Informative, entertaining, eye-opening.
Please lose the vocal fry. I’ve been trying to overlook it and move past , but it’s so so grating and ruining an otherwise really lovely podcast
You can love the genius of Disneyland and hate corporate greed. These can coexist. These hosts don’t seem to know this.
