This week: more news in the Letitia James and James Comey cases. DOJ tried to re-indict James, but they got a no-bill, and in the Comey case, the government is a bit held up by a motion from Comey's sometime-lawyer and friend. Meanwhile, Lindsey Hall... more

The PopeHat, Ken White, is superb. Listen to The PopeHat and you will learn about the law and the legal system. Josh Barro is pundit manure. Barrow is the Megan McArdle of John P Normansons. Do not buy a subscription. Refuse to give Barro a ruble. Or a shekel. Never reward Barro. Were it not for his parents, that guy would be moving boxes at an Amazon warehouse.
I loved this podcast when it started out. Often the news raises strictly legal questions, and this podcast was great at explaining those, especially at the federal level. No other podcast is doing this with breaking news (What Trump Can Teach Us About Con Law comes close). However, over the years they have moved from a mix of full episodes and truncated episodes in the free feed to all "teasers" unless you subscribe to their Patreon feed, which makes listening frustrating.
I paid $60 for a year of this podcast, duly added it to my Apple podcasts feed, and ONLY get the free episodes/ parts of episodes. I’ve wasted a lot of time (and patience!) trying to fix this. I can’t fix it and can’t find out who can. But the more I listen the more I think Ken White isn’t qualified to speak to many of the topics he attempts to address, and Josh Barro should either go to law school or stop playing lawyer. So maybe I just quit it altogether. And yes, I’m a lawyer.
i appreciate ken’s analysis, but josh is a terrible moderator/host, and it’s unfortunate because he leads the discussions. if ken found another partner, likely 5 stars, but josh is an albatross around his neck. it’s maddening.
Ken White and Josh Barro have created a space where common sense discussion of law fare exists.
